Housing set aside for persons with disabilities

NHT 5% Housing Allocation

5% of units in every new NHT development

The National Housing Trust reserves 5% of the units in every new housing development for persons with disabilities who are registered with the JCPD — or for contributors who have a child registered with the JCPD. When a new development is advertised, you apply through the Council during its intake period for the reserved units, which typically opens after the general intake period has ended. I applied through this allocation and was awarded a housing scheme unit, which I pay a mortgage on every month — a mortgage that is low compared with others in my scheme. Because I have walked the whole path, I can explain in plain language what the allocation is, whether you may qualify, what documents you will need, and how the intake timing works.

What this covers

  • How the NHT 5% disability reservation works
  • Applying through the JCPD during the reserved-unit intake period
  • Checking whether you may qualify before you apply
  • What to expect with selection and mortgage repayments

Eligibility

  • Registered with the JCPD, or an NHT contributor with a child registered with the JCPD
  • Meet the standard NHT contribution and qualification requirements
  • Apply through the Council during the reserved-unit intake period for a new development

Who can apply

NHT contributors who are registered with the JCPD, or who have a child registered with the JCPD.

From my own experience

I received an NHT scheme house through this allocation and pay a monthly mortgage that is low compared with others in my scheme.
