Up to JMD $300,000 (two mortgagors per household)
Beyond making homeownership possible, the NHT is making housing more comfortable for mortgagors living with disabilities who are registered with the JCPD. The organisation has doubled its Special Grant for Persons with Disabilities to JMD $300,000, and has doubled the number of persons who can apply per household — a maximum of two NHT mortgagors with disabilities living in the same household can now access the benefit. The grant is used to upgrade a home to meet the owner's needs; where a mortgagor with a disability is accessing a new NHT unit, the value of the grant is tied directly to the cost of retrofitting the unit to suit them. I received this grant and used it to burglar-bar the windows and doors of my house, making my home safer, so I can explain what it may cover and how to put together an application that clearly shows why you qualify.
